Review - Micky and the Motorcars
Mickey and the Motorcars gave the crowd at the Filling Station a great show on April 7, playing old favorites as well and tunes from their recent release, "Hearts From Above."
Bozeman's own Tom Cook Band opened for Micky and the Motorcars, who hail from a musical dynasty of sorts, with their roots just the other side of the Continental Divide, in Stanley, Idaho. Gary and Micky Braun head up MMC, and the band Reckless Kelly keeps older brothers Cody and Willy busy. Both bands are based out of Texas these days, but that doesn't keep them away from the Rockies, or the Rockies out of their music.
A good place to catch both bands and more of the Braun family takes place every August in Challis, Idaho, at the annual Braun Brothers Reunion. It's a festival lovers of Americana music should put on their bucket list. But if you can't make it to Idaho, never fear: both bands seem to make their way through the Treasure State sometime during their busy touring season.
