2015 Bobcat Football

The Recipe for Excitement

2015 Montana State Bobcats football season gets underway September 3 at Bobcat Stadium. The Bobcats will play the Fort Lewis Sky Hawks under the lights. The last time the Bobcats met the Sky Hawks was 2010 and was coach Rob Ash’s fourth season at the helm for Montana State. The game was an absolute blowout 59-20. Look for a similar outcome in the September 3rd match up. Montana State’s offense will dominate the defense of Fort Lewis. Look for this to be a high scoring game and a slick demonstration of the Bobcats powerful offense. I am predicting a Bobcat win, score 54-14.

For the second game of the 2015 season the Bobcats travel to Big Sky rival Eastern Washington. Last year’s match up left the Bobcats short 51-52 after Eastern Washington scored on a two-point conversion. The game was quite the thriller and you should expect more of the same this year. It just might be one of the best games of the 2015 season. I predict the Bobcats will come out on top this year and we will also see a high scoring game, with a 42-35 Bobcat victory!!

Week 3 in the Bobcat’s schedule brings us back home to play Cal Poly September 26 at 1:35pm at Bobcat Stadium. Last year Cal Poly delivered two upset blows to Montana football teams beating the Bobcats 35 to 27 and then beating the Grizzlies a week later 41 to 20. This could be one of the most interesting games of the season with the Bobcats looking for redemption from last year’s upset. Along with Cal Poly trying to prove that they are a power house in the Big Sky Conference. I predict the Bobcats will edge this one out with a score of 23 to 19.

Week 4 we find the Bobcats traveling to Northern Arizona for the second conference game of the season against the Lumberjacks. This may prove to be one of the biggest offensive struggles for the Bobcats this season. The Lumberjack’s defense is backed with a strong running game. The Bobcats will have to perform exceptional on offensive and defense to make it past the Lumberjacks in this tough conference game. I’m giving this one to the Bobcats with score 21-14, but don’t rule out the Lumberjacks, they might just keep us on the edge of our seats.

Week 5 brings the Bobcats back home to face Sacramento State October 10 at 5:05pm at Bobcat Stadium. That’s right... under the lights! This should be an easy win for the Bobcats. With the lack of talent on either side of the ball for Sacramento State, this could be a walk in the park for the Bobcats.

The 2014 Bobcat season could be classified as somewhat of a rebuilding season for both the Bobcat offense and defense. The Bobcats performance in the 2014 season outweighed most experts predictions and the expectations of critics. The Bobcats made it to the playoffs only to lose in the first round of the South Dakota State Jackrabbits.

This year heading into the 2015 season the Bobcats are nationally ranked in the FCS coaches polls at #11 just in front of the Grizzlies.

Players to look out for in the 2015 season on the offense side are, Dakota Prukop #5. This second-year quarterback is ready to prove that he has what it takes to lead Montana State to a national championship. Tune in for a strong passing and running game from this young gun!!

Gunner Brekke #27 returning Jr running back, has the strength and determination to blast through any opposing defensive line and deliver spectacular plays.

Chad Newell #17 returning Sr who single-handedly ran for 5 touchdowns in the playoff game against South Dakota State. Look for the Cats to deliver the ball to Newell for some big yardage.

Defensively look for defensive back Jakhari Garcia #12 returning Jr to be a strong contributor to the backfield with three interceptions for touchdown returns last year. Garcia will be a force to be reckoned with.

Another stand out on the defense side of the ball for the Bobcats is defensive back Bryson Keaton #3 returning Jr. Look for both Keaton and Garcia to be strong leaders to what is a young Bobcat defense.

This 2015 Bobcat football team has the recipe to cook up some excitement in anticipation for the upcoming  season, hope to see you under the lights, Friday September 3 at Bobcat football stadium for Montana State vs Fort Lewis.
