City Launches Annual Fall Leaf Cleanup to Clear Streets, Protect Waterways

Wednesday Oct. 21st, 2026

BOZEMAN -- The City of Bozeman Streets Division will begin its Annual Fall Leaf Cleanup on Oct. 22, continuing through late November. Residents can review the dashboard at www.bozemanmt.gov/leafcleanup to learn if they are in the Subdivision or Core areas and find their pickup day.

The Streets Division asks residents to do their part by bagging their leaves in a compostable bag and placing them on the boulevard on their pickup day if they are in a Subdivision area. If they are in a Core area, residents should clear the street for their cleanup day to allow the baler to come through their neighborhood, as well as rake their leaves into the street or bag them and place them on the boulevard. Any yard waste, like tree branches or weeds, should be placed into a compostable bag and set on the boulevard for pickup.

The City of Bozeman began Fall Leaf Cleanup over thirty-five years ago. The long-standing community program is key to City preparations for winter in Bozeman.

“Fall Leaf Cleanup began as a way to keep leaves out of storm drains, preventing clogs and drain damage,” said Streets Superintendent Matthew Workman. “We appreciate our community’s help in keeping our streets clear and our waterways protected.”

The City of Bozeman Parking Division also reminds residents to follow all “No Parking” signs for Fall Leaf Cleanup. Failure to do so will result in a citation and potential fine.

“Thank you for parking off the street during your cleanup day,” said Parking Manager Nicholas Focken. “While we understand this is a disruption for Bozeman residents, keeping cars off the street gives the baler space to move and gather leaves.”
