BOZEMAN - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized Bridger Bowl Ski Area of Bozeman, Montana for demonstrating leadership in innovative pollution prevention (P2) practices which reduce, eliminate or prevent pollution at its source prior to recycling, treatment or disposal.
Bridger Bowl is among three winners of Region 8's 2024 Regional Pollution Prevention Recognition Awards and is the only ski area to receive the award which extends across all businesses and industries.
"EPA's Pollution Prevention Recognition program celebrates businesses that have incorporated pollution prevention measures into their practices," said EPA Regional Administrator KC Becker. "Today's awardees' efforts are a testament to the fact that we can reduce environmental impacts and create efficiencies, all while saving money and strengthening economic growth." During the award ceremony she added, " There are not many nonprofits in the country that have these, so huge congratulation to you."
Bridger Bowl Ski Area was recognized for reducing electricity use through LED and motion-activated lighting, installing an on-site 50 kW solar array and implementing a transit and carpooling incentivizing program that is free for guests and employees.
