Kitchen Dwellers continue to carve out their own lane in the world of progressive roots music, blending bluegrass, folk, and psychedelic grit into a sound as expansive as their Montana home. The Bozeman-born quartet of Shawn Swain (mandolin), Torrin Daniels (banjo), Joe Funk (upright bass), and Max Davies (acoustic guitar) has grown from regional upstarts into one of the most dynamic and forward-thinking bands in modern string music. Their catalog pairs instrumental virtuosity with emotional storytelling, an exploratory spirit, and a deep connection to the American West.

Along the way, Kitchen Dwellers have received praise from outlets such as Bluegrass Today, Huffington Post, Relix, American Songwriter, and additional national publications.

Kitchen Dwellers continue to evolve while staying rooted in the landscapes and creative curiosity that shaped them. With Seven Devils marking a major milestone and The Katabatic EP offering a distilled burst of artistic expression, the band remains committed to pushing the boundaries of modern bluegrass and exploring new musical terrain.


STiLGONE is self proclaimed Intergalactic Dirtbag Soul  “It’s one of our goals to make every show a unique experience for ourselves and our audience. That could mean a tweak to the set list, extending sections, creating new feels in existing songs, or a sometimes rotating cast of players including one off musical collaborations. We want it to be something that changes with time. Similar to how we always are changing as people.

I think it’s less that STiLGONE is unique and more that the SW Montana music scene is unique. There’s a perceived stereotype that MT music is like the population, sparse over the landscape, which is simply not true. We’re fortunate to be a part of a diverse music scene. Our appeal in the scene is the swath of genres we tackle. If you come to a STiLGONE show you’re likely to hear some psych rock, hip hop, soul, reggae, funk and much more!”

Jorma Kaukonen is an American blues, folk, and rock guitarist. Kaukonen performed with Jefferson Airplane, and still performs regularly on tour with Hot Tuna, which started as a side project with bassist Jack Casady, and as of early 2024 has continued for 55 years.Rolling Stone magazine ranked him No. 54 on its list of “100 Greatest Guitarists”. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 as a member of Jefferson Airplane.

Kaukonen attended Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio, where his friend Ian Buchanan taught him fingerstyle guitar playing. Buchanan also introduced Kaukonen to the music of Reverend Gary Davis, whose songs have remained important parts of Kaukonen’s repertoire throughout his career.

In 1962, Kaukonen moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and enrolled at the University of Santa Clara. During this time, he gave guitar lessons at Benner Music Company in San Jose. He played as a solo act in coffee houses and accompanied Janis Joplin on acoustic guitar on the 1964 recording known as “The Typewriter Tapes”.
