Last Best Comedy: The Best Medicine This Summer

Tucked beneath Main Street in the basement level of the historic Bozeman Hotel is Last Best Comedy, Montana’s only dedicated comedy club. Since opening its doors in 2021, the venue has become a gathering place for stand-up comics, improvisers, students, and anyone 18+ looking to trade a night outdoors for a night of laughs. LBC continues to build a thriving comedy community while bringing a steady stream of entertainment to Bozeman residents and visitors alike.

The club hosts performances Tuesday through Saturday and features all-things-comedy including classes, open mic nights, improv, touring stand-up comedians, and a full bar. The venue was founded by local performers Annie and Levin O’Connor and Molly Hannan, who envisioned a space dedicated to comedy and community in southwest Montana.

July 2026’s lineup reflects theclub’s wide-ranging approach to live entertainment.

Weekly open mic nights hosted by Bone Dry Comedy continue every Tuesday, offering aspiring comedians and seasoned performers a chance to test new material in front of a live audience. The open mic has become a launching pad for local talent and one of the most consistent comedy events in the Gallatin Valley.

Improvisational comedy remains a cornerstone of the club’s programming. Fast-paced, audience-driven shows invite patrons to become part of the action as performers create scenes, characters, and stories on the spot from audience suggestions. Popular productions such as Whiz Bang! blend short-form improv, audience participation, and high-energy comedy, ensuring no two performances are ever the same. The club also fosters community involvement through its weekly Improv Drop-In, a pay-what-you-can Wednesday night class and social gathering hosted by Annie and Levin O’Connor. Open to all experience levels, the casual workshop gives aspiring performers and curious newcomers a chance to learn improvisation fundamentals, connect with fellow comedy enthusiasts, and even take the stage during the weekly community showcase.

Stand-up comedy takes center stage throughout the month as regional and national comedians make stops in Bozeman. One of July’s featured events is Cowboys of Comedy, a showcase celebrating Western humor and storytelling on July 11 at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. The lineup includes Cole Metcalf and Will Laws, featuring Alex Speed, and is headlined by acclaimed comedian Rich Hall. Sponsored by Wild Rye Distilling and Montucky Cold Snacks, the 18-and-over show highlights the club’s ability to bring nationally recognized talent to southwest Montana while sharing the stage with rising comedians from the region. Another featured July event includes Summer Stand-Up Saturdays with headliner Lynette Manning, scheduled for July 25 with performances at both 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. The club regularly brings touring comedians to Montana while also showcasing homegrown talent from across the state.

Last Best Comedy has responded to our growing community by creating a welcoming space where newcomers and longtime locals can connect through a shared experience. The result is a venue that feels more like a community hub than a traditional comedy club.
For visitors looking for an alternative to the area’s outdoor pursuits, and for locals seeking a night out downtown, Last Best Comedy offers something increasingly valuable in today’s fast-paced world: a chance to put away distractions, gather with friends, and simply laugh. And during a busy Montana summer, that may be the best medicine of all.
