Reaching 20 Years

This June marks a major milestone for Bozeman Magazine; we are moving towards the 20th year of sharing the stories, people, businesses, events, and culture that make the Gallatin Valley unlike anywhere else.

What began in 2007 as a humble newsprint publication called Bozeman’s Own Monthly Magazine has grown into one of the region’s most recognizable and trusted local media resources. In those early days, the publication was small in size but ambitious in spirit — built on the belief that Bozeman deserved a publication dedicated entirely to the community it served, and putting all-things-Bozeman into one place.

Over the past two decades, both the city and the magazine have evolved dramatically. As Bozeman transformed from a growing mountain town into one of the most talked-about destinations in the West, Bozeman Magazine evolved alongside it. What started as a grassroots “local rag” steadily became a polished, full-color glossy publication that now spans 64 pages of carefully curated editorial content, history, dining interviews, local info, and community storytelling.

For the past 12 years, the magazine has embraced high-quality glossy printing, elevating both the reading experience and the businesses, artists, musicians, nonprofits, and entrepreneurs featured in its pages. Along the way, the launch and continued expansion of Bozeman Magazine’s website created a powerful digital extension of the publication — offering readers an accessible, up-to-date source for events, dining, arts, entertainment, local news, and everything happening in the greater Bozeman area.

But while the format has evolved, the mission has remained the same: connect people to their community. Bozeman Magazine has always been rooted in local discovery. Whether helping newcomers find their footing, giving visitors a deeper look into the area, or keeping longtime locals informed about what’s happening around town, the publication has remained committed to being a reliable and engaging community resource.

Reaching 20 years is not just a celebration of longevity — it’s a reflection of the loyal readers, advertisers, contributors, photographers, and community partners who have supported the magazine every step of the way. Their belief in local media and local storytelling has helped shape Bozeman Magazine into what it is today.

As the community continues to grow, so will the magazine. The future includes expanded digital content, broader event coverage, deeper storytelling, and continued investment in showcasing the people and places that define life in Bozeman.

Nineteen years ago, Bozeman Magazine started as a small publication with a big vision. Today, it stands as a trusted local powerhouse — and this next chapter is just getting started.
