Get Outside With Bozeman Clubs

Jessica Cairoli  |   Thursday May. 1st, 2025

As another frigid winter comes to an end, it’s finally time to start enjoying the spring sun in the beautiful Montana outdoors. However, it isn’t always easy to decide what activities to do, where to go, or to carve out the necessary time to drink in our local landscape. When this is the case, don’t fret; the Bozeman area is home to plenty of clubs designed to build a community of individuals who share similar goals, hobbies, and the desire to enjoy outside activities. I’ve compiled a few examples of these local clubs to help you get involved and build connections that will enhance your experience this spring.

Running Clubs
Everyone knows about Bozeman’s vibrant population of runners; as soon as the snow melts, almost every trail and sidewalk is bustling with happy joggers. If you’re such an athlete looking for some running partners, I’d suggest looking into membership with groups like the Bozeman Run Club. This free community meets every Saturday morning at various locations, and is suitable for all levels of ability. Members have diverse goals; some enjoy two-mile jogs while others run over 20 miles per outing. No matter your objective, this group is known for its supportive and fun-loving atmosphere, perfect for pushing the boundaries of athleticism or just getting outside to hang out with some friends. The club is led by alternating group leaders, all of whom are committed to fostering a love for Montana’s stunning trails, and the wonderful people who use them. At the end of each run, the group comes together to enjoy much-needed refreshments and snacks. This club is always looking for more members, so sign up today at www.bozemanrunclub.com

Biking Clubs
An activity just as popular as running is bicycling, and Bozeman is the perfect place to enjoy an intense mountain biking trip or a leisurely ride through your neighborhood. The local Gallatin Valley Bicycle Club provides the perfect opportunity for any seasoned biker or casual enjoyer to find a community dedicated to uniting and motivating like-minded individuals. Originally a racing team 46 years ago, this group has remained relevant by adapting to the changing needs of Bozeman. Now one of the most comprehensive athletic clubs in the area, the Gallatin Valley Bicycle Club has options for everyone, including race training, women’s mountain biking, and youth rides. Adding to their extensive repertoire, the group puts on numerous events throughout the year, such as their annual Bike Swap and Festival of Bikes. The club offers at least one activity almost every day of the week; be sure to check out their website to find the perfect option for you at www.gallatinvalleybicycleclub.org

Adventure Club
There are lots of clubs throughout Bozeman that don’t fit neatly into a specific category of activity. These versatile clubs are perfect for someone who wants to enjoy the plethora of outdoor opportunities Montana provides while meeting people who want to do the same. One group with these values is the Bozeman Adventure Club, which prioritizes enjoying the Bozeman area in all its forms. With members ranging in age from mid 20’s to 70’s, this group does everything from hiking and snowshoeing to camping and backpacking. This club prides itself on its flexibility; anyone can RSVP to attend an event and is then free to undo this commitment if need be. That said, make sure to plan ahead. The Bozeman Adventure Club has significantly grown in popularity, and some events may have an attendance cap to ensure that the activity remains viable. More Strenuous Clubs
While everyone enjoys a leisurely hike or a relaxing river float trip, there are plenty of Bozeman locals and tourists who want to push themselves to the limit. There are several clubs dedicated to feats of athleticism throughout the valley, one of which is the Bozeman Outdoor Enthusiasts. This group generally focuses on hiking, with the occasional venture into cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and more. Club members commonly embark on 10-mile hikes (and sometimes 15-20 mile versions) with some elements of off-trail navigation. Anyone interested in joining the Bozeman Outdoor Enthusiasts should be prepared for vigorous activity and should own the equipment necessary to successfully complete their activities. To see if this club would be right for you, check out their upcoming events at www.meetup.com/Bozeman-Outdoor-Enthusiasts

Women’s Clubs
As a woman, it can sometimes feel daunting to venture into the wilderness with a group mostly comprised of men. If you feel more comfortable spending time with other women but don’t want to miss out on the fun of an organized club, don’t worry; Bozeman has multiple women-only clubs that focus on getting outside in the company of Montana’s outdoorsy women. The Bozeman Women’s Activities Group began meeting in 1969 and is still a beloved staple of the area today. With over 200 women participating, the possibilities are nearly endless when it comes to choosing the right activity. With options from hiking and kayaking to calming crafts, you’re sure to find a group of like-minded women to learn from. Bozeman Women’s Activities Group members pay a fee of $10 per year, which is then donated to local nonprofits, helping you pursue your hobbies and support the Bozeman area. Dog Clubs
Dogs love Bozeman as much as their owners; every hiking trail and neighborhood is crowded with dogs happy to be outside in the nice weather. A 2025 poll found that 51.9% of Montana households owned at least one dog, and, if you’re a dog owner hoping to meet some fellow canine lovers, groups like the Gallatin Dog Club provide an excellent opportunity for dogs and people to get together. Open to all dog breeds and ages, the Gallatin Dog Club meets via Zoom every second Tuesday of the month, allowing participants from all over Montana to tune in. The group hosts agility and obedience classes, as well as various trials for conformation, agility and obedience skills, and more. With a passion for education, the Gallatin Dog Club prioritizes teaching its participants about responsible dog ownership while encouraging a sense of mutual respect between dogs and their owners.
