Welcome to Tripp Studio
Sunday Nov. 30th, 2014
Tripp Studio is now open at the Emerson Cultural Center. Artist and owner, Kara Fellows-Tripp, moved into studio #111 in mid-September and has quickly transformed the space into an inviting gallery and oil painting studio. Her joyful renditions of local landscapes and animals enliven the historic brick walls at the Emerson. Kara displayed her work just a few doors down at the Artists’ Gallery for four years previously, she knew it was time to find more studio space when every room in her house had become overrun with art!
Most days at Tripp Studio you’ll catch Kara wielding a palette knife and layering oil paint onto a stretched canvas. “The palette knife technique adds another dimension to my painting.” Tripp explains. “Bands of color are pulled through with every stroke - the end result is very unique and energetic.” Kara’s favorite subjects include grain elevators, Suffolk sheep, round hay bales, and other farm and ranch scenes. Her painting style and framing choices add a contemporary twist to her traditional subject matter. Tripp Studio also offers jewelry, pastels, burnished pottery, and encaustics, all created by local artists.
Kara will add palette knife painting workshops next spring. Tripp Studio is open for business Tuesday –Saturday 11-5 or by appointment. Reach the artist by email kara.tripp@hotmail.com or online at www.KaraTrippArtist.com
