The Bozeman Youth Initiative at Art Walk
Friday Aug. 1st, 2014
The Bozeman Youth Initiative, a group of local high school students who plan and implement events to enhance their community, are hosting their annual summer youth art walks happening on the second Friday of months June-September, in correspondence with the Downtown Bozeman Association Art Walks, at Soroptomist Park from 6pm-8pm.
The Bozeman Youth Initiative members wanted to find a way to support their fellow art students. They came up with the idea of hosting their own art walk where amateur artists can display their works for free and sell it without having to give up any of their profits. The BYI students want to give young, inexperienced artists the exposure and sales opportunities they deserve and need to grow and develop. Stop by Soroptomist Park on the second Friday Art Walks to discover new artists and their creations, and support your community.
All genres of art are welcome and all amateur artists are encouraged to sign up and display their work. Selling your work is optional and it is all free. BYI does not take any portion of your profits. Thanks to the Downtown Bozeman Association, any musicians who sign up for a spot at the art walk will be paid $50-$100 per performance.
The Bozeman Youth Initiative meets once weekly to plan events throughout the year which include dances, concerts, DJ Battles, service projects, art shows and more. The group encourages youth to learn new things, develop leadership skills, and take on responsibilities. The events planned by the group are created and implemented completely by the youth.
