Nik Rowell’s passion for the outdoors started at an early age - from trips from his family cabin in Northern Minnesota, to 1000 mile road trips to Bozeman, Montana. These small adventures sparked a love of all things natural and serene. Nik’s pursuit of photography, however, didn’t start until 2005. Living in Bozeman at that time he was armed with a small 3.2 megapixel point-and-shoot. The limitations of the camera didn’t deter him, instead, he focused on composition and keeping a creative eye. “I found beauty and inspiration in places I had once overlooked.” says Rowell.

The years that followed brought web design and development (and a DSLR) into his life. While continuing to document and discover his passion for photography, Nik gradually built a portfolio of work he admired, but he wanted more. More time for discovery. More time for creativity, and more time to pursue passions that he wasn’t finding enough time for. As 2013 came to a close, Rowell made the decision to leave Minneapolis and return, once again, to the mountains of Montana, this time taking his wife with him. “It was time to get out of my comfort zone and re-kindle my vision.”
