A Celebration of All Things Musical: Friends of KGLT’s 3rd Annual Music Swap

Saturday Nov. 2nd, 2013

For the past 45 years, KGLT has been amplifying community radio to the Bozeman area with its free format style that not many other stations can boast. As a music lover, Bozeman community member, and KGLT supporter, you are invited to collaborate with the Friends of KGLT to make their third annual Music Swap the best swap yet. This celebration of all things musical will take place on Saturday, November 16 from 10 am to 4 pm in the Emerson Center Ballroom.

How can you be a part of this celebration of all things musical? 1. You can simply be a visitor or consumer at the Music Swap; $3 will get you in the door to experience the celebration. 2. You can donate or consign musical items to raise money for KGLT. 3. You can be a table or booth vendor. Individuals, organizations and businesses wishing to sell music related merchandise may become vendors for $30 and 10% of sales. This fee includes one 8-ft table; additional tables are available for $10 per table. 4. New this year: All music related organizations, production companies, studios and bands are invited to participate. For $10 plus 10% of any sales, participants will share a table with another organization and will have the chance to promote their group, sell CDs and performance tickets, and meet and greet fans. Tuesday, November 12 is the deadline to reserve space as a vendor or a music presenter.

The initial concept of the Friends of KGLT Music Swap was to accept music related donations and consignment items to swap and support KGLT. This year donations of vinyl, CDs, instruments, sheet music, stereos, memorabilia and all things music related are being accepted. All items must be clean and in working order. No cassette tapes! Items worth $50+ can be sold on consignment. Friends of KGLT will take a commission of 20% for items that sell. Consignment items and donations will be accepted Friday, November 15 from 4 to 8pm at The Emerson Center Ballroom.

All proceeds accumulated from the Music Swap will be donated to KGLT, Southwest Montana’s Alternative Public Radio Station. “The first two Music Swaps were a total success as well as a lot of fun,” said Ellen King Rodgers, KGLT’s General Manager. “This year we’ve looking forward to drawing a greater cross-section of the music community to the event.” Last year over 250 music enthusiasts attended and helped to raise over $3,000 for the station.

This year’s Music Swap will precede the November 16th MSU Football game at Bobcat Stadium, where we take on Southern Utah (4:05 pm kickoff). You can get your pre-game celebration on with a specially concocted Bloody Mary, or other beverage provided by the Zebra Cocktail Lounge. Please drink responsibly!

Friends of KGLT was formed in 2002 with a volunteer board of directors. The Friends have gained momentum over the past few years with new members and successful community events such as Music Swap and the All Fools Day Bash. The Mericos Foundation has also provided a matching funds grant specifically for much-needed improvements to the station’s broadcast studio, production room and a translator for the downtown Bozeman area. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Friends of KGLT exists to provide financial support for the station, and in turn the community.

Music Swap is the perfect opportunity to search for musical treasures as well as meet local musicians, learn more about groups producing live music, and mingle with music enthusiasts of all ages and interests.
