Free Bear Spray Rentals for Non-Resident Montana Hunters

Tuesday Sep. 17th, 2013

Montana and Wyoming studies of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem have revealed a downturn in Whitebark Pine cone production this fall, likely increasing the chances of human/ bear interactions. To assist in minimizing permanent impact on bears (and humans), Bozeman’s Phasmid Rentals is offering free bear spray education and rentals to non-resident visiting hunters.

Big game hunters in the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem are the most likely candidates for encounters with Grizzlies, especially during archery season. Coincidentally, hunting season is also the period of year with the highest human caused bear mortalities. Bear Spray has consistently proven to be more effective on preventing serious injury as a result of a bear mauling than discharge of a firearm, with far less damage to the bear. Phasmid is not looking to stop non-resident hunters from carrying a defensive sidearm during their hunt, but rather offering education and a no-cost alternative both better for the bear and the hunter.

For September and October of 2013, Phasmid Rentals will provide no-charge bear spray rentals to non-resident big game hunters for their hunt duration in Montana. Simply stop by Phasmid’s office and present your non-resident hunting license or call ahead to arrange an appointment.

The owner of Phasmid Rentals, Will Casella, is an avid outdoorsman and hunter who is continually seeking ways to preserve Montana’s rich sporting heritage and opportunities. Based in Bozeman, Phasmid Rentals provides car rentals and outdoor gear rentals for Montana adventures.
