A film documentary, Ride for Lance, will be screened at the American Legion in Bozeman on Thursday evening, April 11, 2013. The film captures the 12,000-mile motorcycle ride by Navy SEALs in honor of a fallen brother. The film includes stunning footage from Montana, as well as interviews with local residents and veterans. The film about brotherhood, family, and patriotism includes many local residents.

The ride started in Virginia Beach, VA to Seward, AK, on July 4, 2010 where members of the ride participated in the Mount Marathon run, then, back to Virginia, across the United States. The Navy SEALs rode in honor of fellow SEAL, Lance Vacarro, who gave his life for his country. The Lance Vacarro Memorial Ride raised funds for the Navy SEAL Foundation and honored veterans and their families across North America.

Locally a fundraiser at the Yellowstone Harley Davidson dealership was the largest event held for the ride. It was Day 6 of the ride after their departure from Virginia Beach. Several hundred people were there to welcome them including a flyover by local resident Bill Graves in his P51 Mustang, along with welcomes from the mayors of Bozeman and Belgrade.

The film screening and welcome party for returning team members will take place at the American Legion April 11 starting at 6 pm. The Bozeman American Legion was selected as venue for the screening to support not only the film, but the American Legion. Special music will be provided by team rider, Gary Ellis, a New Orleans style jazz entertainer and former SEAL. Local musicians including Tom Cook, Michael Dougherty, and Chelsea and the Ruckus, will also be on hand for this event.

There is no admission charge for this event, which is a fundraiser to help bring the film to national attention. The American Legion will be serving the regular Thursday night menu. Several local business sponsors and individuals make this event possible.   Ride memorabilia, DVDs, will be for sale, along with many great raffle items.
