Adult Improvisation curriculum starting this January

Friday Dec. 21st, 2012

The Equinox Theatre (soon to be Verge Theater) is excited to announce its new Adult Improvisation curriculum! Starting this January the theatre will be offering a five level program similar to that of the Second City. The training program is brought to us by Christian McDaniel, a former writer and student at the Second City in Chicago. He explains,

“The improv curriculum here at the Verge/Equinox gives you a solid foundation of improv principles and improvisational scene work. Upon completion of the program you will learn to work as a group to write your own comedy revue show, to be performed here at the Verge/Equinox Theatre. Throughout your classes, you will learn the importance of supporting your fellow cast members, developing characters, and the importance of “Yes and”.
Our classes are designed for beginners as well as experienced actors, the goal is to give you the skills you need for creating better scenes, thinking on your toes, better public speaking, and most importantly the overall feeling of just having fun on stage.
This is a progressive curriculum; students are expected to take Level 1 before taking advanced classes.”
Intro to Improvisation is being offered on Thursday nights, 6-730pm starting January 10th and runs for 9 weeks and is taught by Ryan Cassavaugh. Cost is $140. The final class, March 7th will be a performance for friends and family. Those who have taken our beginner class in the past need to receive approval in order to register for the Second Level which will be held Tuesdays from 6-8pm starting January 8th and is taught by Christian McDaniel. Cost is $180. This class also runs for nine weeks and ends on March 5th.
