Jack Kid Cat Chat

In the month of October the Cat’s had some ups and downs. The upside is the Cat’s beat UC Davis, but had 7 turnovers in the game. The Cat’s had some trouble holding on to the ball and lost it 7 times with no interceptions. That game had me worried until there was eleven minutes left. The screen pass was picked off by defensive end Zach Minter. Then the Cat’s scored a touchdown and won.
Now the downside was the Eastern Washington game. There were some really bad calls on penalties. The Cats really need to work on the penalties and turnover as the season starts to come to an end. One Cray play was the punt that was almost blocked, Aleksei Grosulak got pushed into the punter and it was called roughing the punter. After talking to coach Ash it seems from the replay the call on the field shouldn’t have been made. McGhee had a great first half with big pass plays to Tanner Bleskin. The second half was a different story, turnover and penalties killed us. The Cat’s could not hang on so we lost 27-24. I don’t think it was a loss for Montana State. I think Eastern Washington played good football. We had some mistakes that held us back and MSU will learn from those mistakes.
Some important people were at the Eastern Washington game. Senator Jon Tester was there cheering on the Cats even though I think Senator Tester is a Grizzly fan. I also bumped into Pittsburgh Steelers great Kendall Simmons who was there talking about diabetes awareness.
Our next game is against North Dakota. The last time we played them was in 1983, and UND has won four of the last five games in Bozeman, including a 1971 win in Billings taking the last five of the last six against MSU in Montana. North Dakota will be coming out of one of the most difficult three-game stretches anywhere in the FCS to play the Cats, scoring with 12 seconds remaining to beat Montana 40-34. UND threw for 660 yards in the win, all by quarterback Braden Hanson and more than half (333) to receiving sensation Greg Hardin, a Big Sky-record effort. In fact, three UND receivers had over 100 yards receiving in the game. This is sure to be a tough battle for MSU.
The Cats have 4 games left this season, two home games, and two away games including the Big Cat/Griz Game in Missoula this year. This is what the Cats need to happen if they want to win the Big Sky: they need Eastern Washington to lose to Cal Poly and lose to Southern Utah. The Cats would also need Cal Poly to lose at least two of the final game. That’s how the Cats are going to win the Big Sky. Well of course the Cats need to win the rest of their games too. Another big game coming up is Cal Poly versus Eastern Washington. It would be in the Bobcat's favor to have ESU lose. Look for all of the Bobcats seniors to be going all out for the rest of the season. See ya at the game GO CATS!!!
