Public Call to Vote for the Sweet Pea Festival Commemorative Button
Friday Mar. 30th, 2012
For the first time in Sweet Pea history, the public is invited to vote on proposed designs for the commemorative Festival button.
In the past, buttons have been designed by a local graphic designer and selected by the Board of Directors. This year, six potential designs are posted on Sweet Pea’s Facebook page: www.sweetpeafestival.org/facebook.com. The public is invited to “Like” their favorite design, and the design with the most “Likes” will be the official commemorative button for 2012.
In 2007, Sweet Pea switched from buttons to wristbands for entry into the Festival. Wristbands allow for easier inventory, better visibility in Lindley Park, and a more streamlined way to offer day passes, which will be offered in 2012 for the first time. Commemorative buttons were first available back in 2007 and are popular with community members who have collected buttons over the years.
Sweet Pea commemorative buttons, merchandise, and three-day admission wristbands go on sale July 5 at various locations throughout the community. Buttons are $1. Details about the merchandise outlets will be available on www.sweetpeafestival.org in June.
This year’s Sweet Pea Festival is August 3, 4, and 5 with ancillary events beginning the week prior.
For more information, call 586-4003 or visit the office at 448 East Main, Suite 2B.
ABOUT SWEET PEA FESTIVAL
Now in its 35th year, the Sweet Pea Festival remains true to its original vision of celebrating the arts. Its mission: promote and cultivate the arts. It accomplishes this in a unique way by sponsoring the event totally from the admission sales of Festival attendees. Because there is no corporate sponsorship, there is no commercialism in the park during the Festival. The event happens because of over 1,000 volunteers who create a truly outstanding event. All money raised above what is needed to operate the Festival is given back to the community in the form of grants for the arts, art education, and special projects in the Bozeman area.
