Winter Art Classes @ the Emerson
Monday Dec. 26th, 2011
The Emerson welcomes the community to participate in our large selection of winter art
classes for all ages. Scholarships are available for all children’s classes. A full description
of these classes and class registration is on-line: www.theemerson.org/Education/Class
Schedule. For further information call 587.9797. Our classes are multicultural and often
relate to exhibits currently on display in Emerson’s galleries.
For children the Emerson offers affordable classes for Early Release Days, After School
and during Spring Break. Beginning this semester the Emerson is collaborating with
Project MArt (more art!) artist-educators Maggie Carlson and Allison McGree. We are
offering a multi-cultural pilot art program for youth and adults. Carlson has 18 years
teaching experience and specializes in Indian Art Education. McGree was the director of
the Art Mobile that brought traveling art shows throughout the state of Montana. These
two teachers will be offering creative projects in a variety of media, both 2d and 3d. For
children grades 4-8 ceramic artist Vanessa Rogers will continue to teach our popular after
school pottery class for youth.
For teens and adults we are offering an “Art Sampler” which is a series of one-time
classes for beginners on Wednesday evenings including drawing, jewelry, valentine’s
cards and Chinese lanterns. Our popular pottery programs continue with Tuesday
night Drop-In pottery with Ryan Mitchell, Wednesday morning pottery with Shaila
Sorenson and Wednesday night pottery with Vanessa Rogers. Our pottery studio is
available to students during our open studio hours. Class registration includes all
materials and firings, except for our drop-in Tuesdays. Emerson teachers are trained
educators with years of experience. For further class descriptions consult our website:
www.theemerson.org or email ellen@theemerson.org.
