Big Sky Resort is expanding its gladed tree runs by adding five new ski trails with 20+ acres of new terrain that will open on Andesite Mountain for the 2011/2012 winter season.

Big Sky Resort offers 5,532 skiable acres with the Biggest Skiing in America lift ticket. The new trails will be accessible off of Ramcharger Chairlift, a high speed quad that runs from the Mountain Village base area to the top of Andesite Mountain.

These new runs on Andesite are going to make for truly exceptional glade skiing.

The new trails will include Wolf Den (Most Difficult), located between Mad Wolf and Elk Park Ridge, Shady Chute (Extreme Terrain) and Wolverine (More Difficult) through the Peru and Bolivia territory, and Congo Line (More Difficult) and Madagascar (More Difficult) below Congo.

Big Sky’s glading technique gives runs a very natural feel – skiing on each new run is open enough to allow for both wider turns and tighter navigation through small clusters and individual trees. The runs rated More Difficult are each 1,000-2,000 feet long, have an average grade of 15.6 degrees, and are geared towards intermediate skiers who may not have skied glades before.

Wolf Den (Most Difficult) is 1,100 feet long, has an average grade of 19.8 degrees, and gets progressively steeper and more open towards the bottom.
