Annual Recycled Art Show At The Co-op
Friday Apr. 8th, 2011
Why throw it away when you can “upcyle” it? In honor of Earth Day, the Community Food Co-op presents their annual Recycled Art Show, showcasing 31 creative, beautiful and eccentric pieces handcrafted from scrounged and recycled materials. The show is on display now through May 31 upstairs in the Co-op’s Flying C Café. It is free and open to the public.
Submitted by various artists, including school groups, these pieces showcase how our community can creatively look at “trash.” From cigar boxes, to spoons, scraps of wood, buttons, string, suitcases, and more, these quirky and fun pieces feature reused, recycled and re-imagined materials. Everyday trash has been transformed into creative treasures, and encourages us to think before we throw.
The Co-op is located at 908 West Main Street and open Monday-Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. For more info, call 587-4039.
