All Souls Remembered: A Walk Through Sunset Hills Cemetery

Set on a peaceful hill overlooking Bozeman, historic Sunset Hills Cemetery holds the stories of generations who lived, worked, struggled, and died in the town below. On November 1, a day long associated across cultures and traditions with remembering and honoring the dead, join us for All Souls Remembered: A Walk Through Sunset Hills Cemetery. As we wander among the weathered headstones, we’ll uncover the stories of some of Bozeman’s earliest residents—from prominent figures whose names still echo through the community to those whose lives have nearly faded from memory. Here rest members of the Story family, including the notorious Nelson Story, as well as John Bozeman, the man for whom the town was named—and many others whose stories form the rich and complicated history of early Bozeman. On this day of remembrance, we invite you to walk among the departed, hear their stories, speak their names, and help keep their memories alive.
