Mamas on the Madison: Campout and Float

This is a women only event. Pick your own adventure for a weekend of floating, camping, campfires, and real connection on the Madison River. Join for the Saturday float, hang by the river without floating, camp for one or two nights, or combine whatever options work for you. The area is about a 40-minute drive from Bozeman, with hiking nearby and plenty of river time.
For the float, meet at California Corner in Norris at 11:30 am.
We’ll float from California Corner to Blacksford for about two hours and coordinate a car shuttle. The river is mellow and approximately 2.5 feet deep; life jackets are required for ages 12 and under. Paddleboards work well, and the host may be able to arrange mesh-bottom raft tubes—reach out early if you’re interested.

Trapper Springs Campground is the current best camping option. Sites hold up to 15 people, cost $20 per night, and are first come, first served. Depending on the group, free spots along the river may also be an option. The host plans to set up camp after the float, and the group can collaborate on meals, campfires, and s’mores.
