Authors and Books: Rosemary Wells
Bozeman Public Library will host award-winning author and illustrator Rosemary Wells for an Authors and Books event discussing storytelling, bunnies, and her creative process, as well as her new picture book, “The Little Chefs.” This talk will be held in the Library’s Community Room. This is Wells’ first visit to Montana. She will also be visiting Meadowlark Elementary School during her time in Bozeman.
“We are overjoyed to welcome Ms. Wells to Bozeman,” stated Ellie Newell, Head of Youth Services at Bozeman Public Library. “Her beautifully illustrated books honor the emotional worlds of young children.”
Wells is the award-winning and bestselling author and illustrator of more than 150 books for young people, including the beloved Max and Ruby series. Her books often center on children, depicting their perspectives, anxieties, and motivations through deceptively simple watercolor illustrations of anthropomorphic animals. In addition to her published works, Wells is well known for her “Read to Your Bunny” literacy campaign, which encourages families to read together for twenty minutes a day.
“The Little Chefs” contains three stories of culinary disaster averted. Every kitchen is outfitted with a secret telephone that rings when children’s cooking adventures go awry, summoning a troupe of tiny chefs to save the day. Publishers Weekly describes it as a book that admires “each cook’s aspirations and determination, while providing a dash of magic and a whisk of expertise.”
This event is generously sponsored by the Bozeman Library Friends and Foundation Book Sale Committee and the Element Bozeman. It is free and open to the public, and people of all ages, including children, are welcome. Due to the anticipated popularity of this event, registration is requiredfor entry.
The talk will be recorded and available to view on the Library’s YouTube channel for one week. Those interested in learning more about this event can visit bozemanlibrary.org.
