Artist Open Studio Series - Emily Gonzales

Performance pieces will feature choreography by Erin Levy, Genevieve Trygstad-Burke, Suzann Kienast-Brown and Nico Hurley. The studio will open at 6:30, and the choreography will be performed 3 times every 45 minutes starting at 7pm.
Emily Gonzales was born and raised in Bozeman, MT. Creating is a way of life for Emily, with art being her truest form of communication with the world. She threads connections from the past to the present by way of graphite and mixed mediums. Breathing life into those who came before us. Emily’s work pays homage to her Mexican & Indigenous heritage. Animals also frequent her work as she brings forth their medicine and messages into the world.
Emily is currently working to indigenize the tarot as a way to create representation and to honor indigenous ancestors who walked this Earth before her. The project is part historical as she references real people for each card that is hand drawn in graphite. Earlier this year, the full major arcana print set was acquired by the Tozzer Library of Harvard University into their special collections.
