Gallatin Valley Out of the Darkness Walk

The Out of the Darkness Walks are fundraising events organized by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) that raise awareness and funds to combat suicide and promote mental health awareness. These walks serve as a platform for individuals to come together, share their personal experiences with suicide and mental health, and support one another in the fight to prevent suicide.

Key features of Out of the Darkness Walks: - Community Support: They bring together individuals affected by suicide (loss survivors, those with lived experience, and their allies) to share their stories, find support, and raise awareness.
- Fundraising: The walks generate funds for AFSP to invest in suicide prevention research, educational programs, advocacy for better mental health policies, and support services for those affected by suicide.
- Creating a Culture of Mental Health: The walks help foster a culture that's more informed and supportive of mental health and suicide prevention.
- Symbolic Journey: Participants walk together as a symbolic journey to honor those lost to suicide, raise hope, and highlight that no one needs to face mental health challenges alone.
