Bozeman Doc Series: Dahomey
On Thursday, January 9th, at 7pm at the Emerson Center, the Bozeman Doc Series continues with the Montana premiere of the award-winning new documentary, Dahomey. Filmmaker Mati Diop's documentary Dahomey follows the return of 26 royal artifacts, looted from the African kingdom of Dahomey by French colonizers, to their homeland in modern-day Benin. Premiering at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival, the film blends poetic realism with debates among Beninese students, offering a profound meditation on postcolonial belonging, memory, and cultural restitution. Dahomey has garnered critical acclaim, winning the Golden Bear for Best Film at Berlin and the Best Documentary Feature award at the 2024 Gotham Awards. Tickets are available at the door or before the show online at www.bozemandocseries.org Dahomey – presented by the Bozeman Doc Series, Thursday, January 9th, at 7pm, at the Emerson Theater in Bozeman.
