Fourth Annual BOAR

HRDC Hosts Fourth Annual BOAR Event to Combat Rising Youth Homelessness

As youth homelessness continues to rise in our community, HRDC is hosting its fourth annual BOAR (Blueprint Obstacle Adventure Race) event this Saturday, August 17th, at Glen Lake Rotary Park from 8 am to 11 am. This critical fundraiser supports Blueprint, HRDC's program dedicated to providing housing and comprehensive support for youth experiencing homelessness in Gallatin Valley.

The BOAR is an all-levels, family-friendly, team-oriented event. Participants can choose between a fun-filled 5K obstacle race or a 1K course designed for individuals of all abilities, including those with developmental and mobility disabilities. Both races are crafted to encourage teamwork and problem-solving as participants navigate a variety of obstacles.

"The BOAR is more than just a race; it's an opportunity for our community to come together in support of our most vulnerable youth," said Margaret Mason, HRDC’s Chief Development Officer. "With an increase in the number of youth experiencing homelessness, the funds raised through this event are essential in helping us provide safe housing, life skills training, and a path to independence for the young people we serve."

The 5K race will start and finish at Glen Lake Rotary Park. Participants can expect obstacles such as a slip and slide, climbing wall, sand crawl, and more! The 1K course offers a unique opportunity for individuals of all abilities to participate, with obstacles designed to be accessible for most. Teams of two or more are encouraged to participate, making this event a perfect way to bond with friends and family while supporting a vital cause.

Since its inception in 2015, Blueprint has expanded its capacity to serve young people through a continuum of care, including transitional housing, case management, and support services. The funds raised from the BOAR event will directly support these programs, helping to ensure that every youth in our community has the opportunity to build a brighter future.

Participants can register online or on the day of the event. Pricing is based on age, with special rates for children and seniors. For more information, including course maps and registration details, visit https://www.runtheboar.com/.
