Sex and Politics in Monteverdi's The Coronation of Poppea
Explore Ancient Roman history and its influence on early Italian Baroque opera in Intermountain Opera Bozeman's (IOB) first-ever Baroque opera production, presented in partnership with Baroque Music Montana (BMM). BMM's founder and director, Carrie Krause, conductor and harpsichordist Jeffrey Grossman, and IOB's artistic director Michael Sakir will explain this distinct and stylish musical world. Cast members will sing excerpts from the production and discuss the unique vocal qualities of this repertoire.
The full performance of The Coronation of Poppea is scheduled for September 29 and 30, 2023, at Hope Lutheran Church.
Preludes and Performances are a collaborative program offered to OLLI at MSU and MSU Retiree Association members.
