Play: RED
From the creative team of Middletown comes RED, by John Logan, once again directed by OBIE award winner Bradford Rosenbloom. Rosenbloom and Evan Wilmes (production designer of Middletown) recently formed Empty Space Company, a performance and design collective whose aim is to create and provide professional interdisciplinary art for all communities. Wilmes takes the stage as the master abstract expressionist Mark Rothko while also fulfilling the role of production designer, creating more than ten pieces of original art for Verge's gallery-by-day, theater-by-night.
RED is a searing portrait of an ambitious and vulnerable artist trying to create a definitive work for an extraordinary setting. Ultimately RED examines the complexities of being human in both its joy and its sorrow, as we as a global community grapple with what it means to be alive.
Empty Space Company is thrilled to be partnering with Thrive, a local nonprofit that provides Gallatin Valley families with the resources, tools, and support they need to raise healthy and successful children. Empty Space Company is honored that local businesses such as Hooked Sushi, Revelry, The Ridge, Bozeman Pecha Kucha, Ridgeway Plastic Surgery, Fired-Up Nutrition, The Upper-Cut Barber Shop, and Miss Deborah's Music Studio, and other businesses. These community partners have donated items for our silent auction, 100% of the proceeds of which will be donated to Thrive. In addition, Wilmes's original works will be available for purchase, from which 15% of sales will also go to Thrive. Thank you for supporting professional, local theater that serves our community. RED opens Friday, August 25th and performs August 25th-27th and September 6th-10th.
