Dance and Drum with Yamama! Join us in a moving, grooving celebration of May Day. Within a container of simple ritual, we will explore the Divine Feminine power, grace, sensuality, and energizing heat in our own bodies. Through world dance and drumming, drawn from West African movement and rhythms, our community will create a moving, electrifying circle honoring the approach and opulence of Summer within and all around. After an opening ritual, experience the magic of a facilitated drum circle, two West African World Dance classes to live drumming, and a hand drumming class exploring West African polyrhythms. We will end with a ritual circle closing. It’s a perfect time to fire up for the abundance of Summer! Yamama! expresses gratitude to their teachers and their teachers’ teachers from Africa. These women and men have shared their skills and cultures, permitting the blessings of their cultures’ music and dance, history and people to benefit human kind around the world. They are true ambassadors for a world united in compassion and peace.
