Middletown Auditions

Did you hear? Our fall show is going to be Will Eno's Middletown. It's a deeply moving and funny play that explores the universe of a small American town. We love its themes of loneliness (all too familiar during the pandemic), connection and the absurdity of modern life.

The show will be presented over three weekends, with nine shows: Nov. 18, 19, 20; Dec. 2, 3, 4; Dec. 9, 10, 11 (skipping the Thanksgiving weekend).

Auditions will be held Saturday, Aug. 20 from 3-6PM and Sunday, Aug. 21 from 3-6PM at the Emerson Center for the Arts and Culture, Suite 107, with callbacks to be announced if needed. Suite 107 is an accessible space.

You can sign up here for an audition slot or email director Bradford Rosenbloom with questions. You can also request a PDF of the script.

And remember: These are 100% open auditions. EVERYONE is welcome. We are open to ALL races, ethnicities, abilities, gender expressions, experience levels, etc. Even no experience at all!

Available roles: 8 females, 5 males, 1 any gender. Get the details here.

Critics love Middletown
"Delicate, moving, piercing, tart, funny, gorgeous. Mr. Eno’s gift may be unmatched among writers of his generation. Glimmers from start to finish." - The New York Times

"A play by Will Eno is a testament to the power of words and wordplay. The worlds he creates are shaped by the cadence, timing and positioning of words to tell stories about the everyday. In his absurdist, abstract drama Middletown [...] Eno offers up an old-fashioned version of small town life that is familiar but with a tilt to the surreal." - Chicago Sun-Times

"Richly engaging and satisfyingly theatrical, with heart and humor. A modern-day equivalent to Thornton Wilder’s Our Town." - TheaterMania

"Utterly spellbinding! Four stars! Will Eno’s dark comic genius inspires all." - Time Out New York

"Middletown is a lusciously written, strangely poignant, dizzyingly modern spin on life." - Newsday
