Spring ePortfolio Showcase

Montana State University will host a Spring ePorfolio Showcase on Thursday, March 31, to highlight ePortfolio efforts on campus. The showcase will run from 1 to 4 p.m. in Inspiration Hall inside Norm Asbjornson Hall.

An ePortfolio is a collection of work in an electronic format that showcases learning over time. Students can create an ePortfolio to highlight key points of their academic careers; use in a project to demonstrate learning and the learning process; and more. Faculty members can also use ePortfolios to display general education competencies for courses, colleges or departments.

The showcase will kick off with a keynote talk by Brian Johnsrud on infusing digital literacy across the campus curriculum. Johnsrud, who is from Big Sandy, received a bachelor’s degree in English from MSU in 2006. He received a 2007 Rhodes Scholarship and earned master’s degrees in literature and anthropology from Oxford University. He then attended Stanford University, earning an interdisciplinary doctoral degree in humanities, digital media and education.

Johnsrud leads Adobe’s worldwide education learning and advocacy teams. Before Adobe, Johnsrud was a secondary teacher, university educator and researcher, directed a digital humanities and education research lab at Stanford, and led the content and curriculum team at Khan Academy.

In addition to the keynote address, the showcase will feature student and faculty presentations, refreshments, prize drawings and more. It is sponsored by the MSU Office of Academic Affairs.

ePortfolios are part of the MSU’s strategic plan to encourage sustained reflection on curricular, co-curricular and dynamic learning. This event is open to the public and all faculty, staff and students to learn more about ePortfolios and how they are being used at MSU. Faculty and students who have developed ePortolios are encouraged to participate in the showcase as presenters or as part of the ePortolio virtual showcase.

Faculty and staff may RSVP for this event at montanastate.campuslabs.com/engage/event/7789453. For more information or to submit a proposal to participate in the Spring ePortfolio Showcase, visit montana.edu/eportfolios/showcase.html.
