The City of Bozeman, GoGallatin and Downtown Bozeman are partnering to offer a holiday season challenge for bicyclists this year. The “12 Days of Bikemas” is an event that will promote shopping by bike to support local businesses downtown by incentivizing the use of active modes of transportation to reach downtown businesses during the holiday season. From December 13
th through December 24
th bicyclists can register on the
GoGallatin.org platform and log trips in order to enter daily prize drawings.
Biking to downtown to shop, eat and partake in holiday festivities is a great way to encourage people to leave their car at home while doing some shopping and enjoying all downtown Bozeman has to offer.
Bicyclists will be encouraged to:
· Log at least one trip per day to qualify for that day’s prize
The
GoGallatin.org platform and social media posts will provide bicyclists with tips and tricks for winter bicycling as well as handle all trip logging and daily prize drawings. The City of Bozeman is teaming with GoGallatin to provide support for active transportation modes and spreading information about the challenge throughout the community. Active Transportation modes contribute positively to our community by reducing parking congestion, increasing mobility for those without a car and encouraging people to shop where essential services are paired with fun things to do, like shopping for holiday gifts and enjoying local restaurants and special events.
The partnership is asking downtown businesses if they would like to donate prizes and post flyers at their places of business to promote the event.
