On Friday, June 4, Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park will host a free talk entitled “Crawl, Fly and Hop: Bugs on Parade” at 8 p.m. in the park’s campground amphitheater. It will be presented by Sherry Staub, a master naturalist with a love for Montana’s small, many-legged friends.

This is the second presentation in Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park’s annual Friday Summer Speakers Series, which introduces a new speaker each Friday at 8 p.m. throughout the summer.

Some people may cringe or shriek at the sight of a spider, cockroach or wasp, but with understanding and empathy, you can learn why some "bugs" are among our greatest allies. You need only bring an open mind and heart to this talk. This is not so much about learning the distinctions between bugs, but knowing them as co-inhabitants and partners. You'll also learn why "bugs" is in quotation marks.

About the speaker
After receiving an undergraduate degree in secondary education from the University of Minnesota as well as a graduate certificate in environmental education from Hamline University in St. Paul, Sherry Staub became a Montana Master Naturalist, Yellowstone Naturalist, Iowa Master Conservationist, and a Certified Interpretive Guide (NAI). Her interest in bugs was honed when she worked as a volunteer in Yellowstone National Park for two years. As a naturalist, Staub believes her greatest mission is to lead others to a natural affection for "all creatures great and small."
