  • The Threat Landscape- Understanding the current trends in Cybersecurity and how it affects our local community. Taking a look at the trends affecting Montana and providing insight into how to better reinforce your cybersecurity framework.
  • How to spot a Phish- Phishing is the leading technique a threat actor will use to enter a network. So how do you spot them? This in-depth look will show examples of everyday phishing attempts and how you can spot them before it’s too late.
  • Vulnerabilities in the Internet of Things (IoT)- Almost all our households have Smart devices plugged in. Understanding the vulnerabilities these devices have can help to secure our homes.
  • Essential Cybersecurity for Business-By establishing a solid security base, you are reducing the attack vector. But how do you go about doing this? This overview will talk about reducing vulnerabilities on your computers and improving your business processes to be more secure. 
 
Eric Tarr is the Information System Security Officer(ISSO) for the Montana Department of Labor and Industry (MTDLI).  He began his career with the Montana Army National Guard as an Infantry Team member, and honorably served our country with separate deployments to Bosnia and Iraq.  After serving, he utilized his Department of Veterans Affairs Vocational Rehabilitation Program benefits to attend and graduate from Montana State University- Billings with a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations. Before his current position, he was the MTDLI Network Supervisor and an IT contractor at the Montana Lottery.
