Nomads & Wanderers - Rebecca Kinkead
Old Main Gallery is pleased to feature "Nomads & Wanderers", a solo exhibition featuring new work by Rebecca Kinkead. An Opening Reception will take place on Friday, July 12th from 6-8PM. This event is free and open to the public. Nestled in a pastoral landscape, Rebecca Kinkead is a nomad as well as a daydreamer. Through her paintings, Kindead allows herself to discover other travelers, both human and animal, in her latest exhibition, "Nomads & Wanderers" . Featuring playful wildlings such as the deer dotting the sage covered landscape of the Tobacco Roots, or the owls and eagles which hover above, these magical nomads recount the wild and magical wilderness Montana offers. “The smallest things are often what connect us as human beings. The calming presence of a sibling or friend, moments of anticipation, tenderness, and personal triumph are realities we share. These paintings are based on memories, both personal and borrowed. They are an attempt to explore a collective human experience. Details and features remain ambiguous inviting the viewer to seek something of themselves in the work. The figure (human or animal) has provided a generous vehicle for color, form and surface to evolve. Paint and wax are layered, dripped and scraped to create a sense that the subject is still emerging…still ‘becoming.’” -Rebecca Kinkead
