2019 Spring Orser Speaker
Vu Le, writer, speaker, blogger and executive director of a Seattle-based nonprofit, will present "Effective Leadership and Strategies for Nonprofit Success" at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 28, in Inspiration Hall, located in Norm Asbjornson Hall on the Montana State University campus.
Le’s talk will focus on topics related to leadership and working within the nonprofit sector. The lecture is provided through a partnership between the Yellowstone Club Community Foundation and the MSU Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship’s David Orser Executive Speakers Forum. The talk is free and open to the public.
Le is executive director of the Rainier Valley Corps, a nonprofit that promotes social justice by developing leaders of color, strengthening organizations led by communities of color and fostering collaboration between diverse communities. He also founded and manages NonprofitAF.com, a blog that examines issues with which nonprofits deal, punctuated with pop culture references.
Known for his irreverent sense of humor, Le says his passion is to make the world better while recognizing the humor in daily tasks. He has been a keynote speaker at the annual Montana Nonprofit Association conference and was named one of “40 under 40” by The Chronicle of Philanthropy.
Le has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in social work, both from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
The Orser Executive Speakers Forum is a continuing component of a program begun in 1988 by David B. Orser, a 1966 MSU graduate and retired business executive, to bring leaders to the college to inspire students to pursue careers as innovative, responsible and ethical business leaders.
Individuals planning to attend the lecture are encouraged to RSVP at montana.edu/calendar/events/28987.
