MSU Wonderlust: “Beyond the Stage: Art and Dance in the Court of Louis XIV”
An interdisciplinary presentation on artistic culture in the court of Louis XIV Else Trygstad-Burke of Raison D’être Dance Project and Intermountain Opera Bozeman will be joined by musicians and dancers from the Raison D'être Dance Project for an interdisciplinary presentation on artistic culture in the court of Louis XIV. Louis XIV ruled France at the end of the 17th century and was an artistic innovator and trendsetter. The talk will explore the connections between dance, music, painting, and sculpture in the French court of the period. Attendees will experience ballet steps and music that emerged from Louis XIV's reign and gain a new perspective on the king who used ballet and art for political control.
