'The Old Man and the Gun' stars Robert Redford and Sissy Spacek. Based on the true story of Forrest Tucker (Redford), from his audacious escape from San Quentin at the age of 70 to an unprecedented string of heists that confounded authorities and enchanted the public, Redford is understatedly mesmerizing, bringing this gloriously sly film to life with one of the greatest special effects in Hollywood history - his smile. Wrapped up in the pursuit are detective John Hunt (Casey Affleck), who becomes captivated with Forrest's commitment to his craft, and a woman (Sissy Spacek), who loves him in spite of his chosen profession. Redford, who has said this will be his last screen role, is still a charismatic presence—age has done nothing to diminish his ability to command the screen. If it's truly his final performance, the film is an entertaining and fitting farewell to a legend, bolstered by an exceptionally fine supporting cast. Rated PG-13, the film runs 93 minutes.
