With unemployment at 2% in Gallatin County finding ways to increase the skilled workforce is a critical factor for continuing to grow the economy; additionally, these non-traditional occupations tend to provide high wages. Bozeman City Mayor, Cyndy Andrus, will start the session at 9am with some opening remarks. This day will provide participants the opportunity to “dip their toes in the water” to investigate if a non-traditional occupation is a good match for their interests and aptitudes. Employment fields to consider might be carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, welding, computer-aided design, commercial driving, IT Networking, machining, masonry, HVAC mechanics, heavy-equipment operation, among many others. Scholarships up to $500 are available to assist women in "construction-related" non-traditional occupation for expenses related to training, apprenticeships, education or employment. Apply directly to CTI (Career Training Institute); scholarship applications are available on the CTI website: ctibrc.org under WANTO.
