Moms Like Me

The second annual Moms Like Me event, scheduled for May 5 at Pilgrim Congregational Church, will be held during National Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week. This FREE public event intends to raise awareness, lessen shame and provide resources and information about the postpartum experience. Moms Like Me will open with three local mothers sharing heartfelt stories of their postpartum experiences, inviting audience members to recognize the healing power of storytelling. To dismantle the myth that postpartum depression always looks like “depression,” the stories will weave through experiences of postpartum rage, anxiety, depression, and the light at the end of the tunnel. Afterwards, we invite audience members to be a part of the Q&A panel comprised of seven local professionals who currently work with families in the postpartum period. The panelists represent the multi-faceted level of optimal postpartum health and will include: Marilee Simons, OB/GYN, Cassie Belzer, CNM, Sheila Idzerda, MD, Katie Regnier, LCPC, Daisy Zell, RN, Terri MacNichol, IBCLC, Holcomb Johnston, ND. The goal is that members of the audience will leave knowing where to turn when in need.
