Funding Fundamentals: The Basics of Grant Writing
Bring your lunch and tackle the topic of grant writing with Kristen Galbraith at our January Nonprofit Network event! Kristen's presentation will cover the following fundamentals of securing funding for your organization:
- Considerations of most fundable projects/programs.
- Identification of resources to research and locate funding opportunities.
- Description of the basic requirements, processes and sections of grant proposals.
- Budgeting and sustainability.
- Collaboration and support.
- Identification of types of documents necessary for inclusion in proposals.
- Submission strategies and evaluation considerations.
- Reporting and administration strategies.
- Public involvement, media and community relations.
- Recognition of common mistakes by proposal writers.
Kristen is one of three in the state of Montana who is Grants Professional Certified is Board Chair of the Nominating Committee for the Grants Professional Association. She has over 16 years of project development and management experience with a special emphasis in grant application processes and administration, working with nonprofit organizations, counties, cities and Native American tribes in Montana and across the country.
She is experienced in researching and identifying potential sources of funding, preparing comprehensive and succinct applications and administering and managing projects in compliance with funding agency guidelines. Over the past eight years, she has written successful grant applications for a variety of clients, totaling close to $26 million that has funded multiple projects and programs.
