This is one of 2 cave cleanings that we do annually At Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park. The NPLD cave restoration invites volunteers to help remove the dust and lint from crevices between the formations that result from the mass visitation that occurs during the tour season. The dust builds up significantly over time and can contribute to the drying of the formations leading to less growth. By having these clean up days, we reduce the impact humans have in the cave.
Bring headlamp, helmet, work gloves and kneepads if you have them. Must wear pants and long sleeves. Lunch to follow the clean up. Please RSVP for the lunch count.
Cost: Free
