Grant Writing 101: An Introduction to Grant Writing for Nonprofits
In this three hour session, participants will learn why grant writing is more than just "writing" with Laura Rhodes with Third Sector Consulting. Laura is a Certified Grant Writer and former foundation program officer who will debunk the myths about grants and help demystify the grant writing process.
What You Will Learn
•The 3 Rs of successful grant writing
• Basic grant terminology and the grant life-cycle
• Determining an organization's "grant readiness"
• 10 reasons why you might not apply for a grant
• How to find your best grant prospects
• How to read a 990-PF to learn more about a foundation
• 5 questions you must answer in every grant proposal easy and effective ways to improve proposal writing
• 20 easy and effective ways to improve proposal writing
Participants will also receive a voucher valid for a free basic proofreading of a letter of inquiry or grant proposal (valid for 60 days after the workshop).
FOCUS AREA: Foundation grants.
TARGET AUDIENCE: Nonprofit staff and volunteers.
EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Beginners and advanced beginners.
Beginner - Has never written a grant proposal.
Advanced Beginner - Has written a few grants with marginal or no success.
