Belgrade Montana’s premier Theremin and piano duo, Cliff & Polly, will pop in for a set at Wild Joe’s Coffee on Saturday, April 1 at 6pm. Featuring budding Thereminist, Polly Vinyl and the incomparable Cliff DeManty on keys, the Cliff & Polly Show’s “Ain’t No Foolin” performance will roll out lounge crooner standbys, show tunes and an Irish medley that would make Lawrence Welk beam with pride. Look ma, no hands! The Theremin is an early electronic instrument, and is particularly unique in that it is controlled without physical contact. Patented in 1928, the Theremin consists of two antennas that sense the proximity of the player’s hands, thus controlling frequency (pitch) and amplitude (volume) oscillators to produce other-worldly melodies out of thin air.
