BFS screens 'Captain Fantastic'

Viggo Mortensen delivers one of his finest performances in the soulful family drama, Captain Fantastic. Deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, isolated from society, devoted father Ben Cash (Viggo Mortensen) dedicates his life to transforming his six young children into extraordinary adults. Far from public schools, Cash has created an exacting and exhilarating curriculum that aims not simply to educate them, but to teach them to become virtuous and open-minded citizens of the world. But when a tragedy strikes the family, they are forced to leave this self-created paradise and begin a journey into the outside world that challenges his idea of what it means to be a parent and brings into question everything he's taught them. New York Post film critic Lou Luminick says; “Captain Fantastic isn't only one of the year's best movies, but one of the best cast and best acted, right down to the smaller roles.” A New York Times Critics’ Pick, Captain Fantastic is directed by Matt Ross and also features Frank Langella, Katherine Hahn, and Steve Zahn. Rated R, the film has an 85% Rotten Tomatoes score and runs 119 minutes. The Bozeman Film Society is now pleased to offer technology that allows those with disabilities to fully take part in movie-going outings with family or friends. The state-of-the-art Fidelio system incorporates headsets with volume control for the hard of hearing or a descriptive system (DS) for the blind or visually impaired. This technology involves transmitting an audio description of scenes to moviegoers who wear a programmed wireless headset, providing an additional track of narration during natural pauses in the film. It describes the action and provides context when there is no dialogue to guide the moviegoer. Personal closed caption (CC) units called CaptiView screens are also available for hard of hearing patrons. Mounted on a cup-holder, CaptiView units allow those with hearing impairments to sit in the audience and read the dialogue as it happens onscreen. DS and CC service is available only for certain screenings (when visiting our website, please make note of the films that indicate DS or CC).
