Law Enforcement Torch Run Rally

Check your speedometer. Over 600 Montana Law Enforcement representatives and their friends are about to hit the streets, highways and byways of the Big Sky Country. In addition to fulfilling their duties of enforcing speed limits, maintaining order and keeping our state safe, they are fulfilling another different type of duty. They are carrying the torch for Special Olympics Montana. The relay begins April 22nd and will have 12 starting points around the state with hundreds carrying the Flame of Hope over 2,200 miles to the State Summer Games Opening Ceremonies in Missoula. The arrival and lighting of the cauldron will officially begin the Games. “Our unofficial motto is ‘Their Endeavor is Our Inspiration’,” said Lt. Jack Allen, statewide Law Enforcement Torch Run Director. “The athlete’s work is inspiring for us and we see it as an honor to help raise awareness and support for Special Olympics Montana.” The torch will make stops in numerous towns throughout the state including Scobey, Medicine Lake, Kalispell, Billings, Glasgow, Malta, Butte, Boulder, Anaconda, Cut Bank, Havre and Lewistown. The Torch will arrive in Bozeman on May 9th at 9:20am at the Bozeman Public Library. Nearly 30 law enforcement agencies are participating in the run including US Border Patrol, Fish, Wildlife & Parks, County Sheriff’s Offices, Montana State Prison, State Forest Service, National Park Service, Local Police Departments and Montana Highway Patrol.
