In partnership with MSU's Extended University and REI, teen girls (ages 10 – 14) are invited to spend a morning with Deia Schlosberg. Deia is a 2009 National Geographic Adventurer of the Year and co-creater of MOR’s changing exhibit Across the Andes. Learn how exploration and adventure can inspire you to improve yourself and the world around you.

Deia Schlosberg completed an MFA in Science & Natural History Filmmaking at Montana State University in Bozeman. Her thesis film, BACKYARD, about the human cost of fracking, has won numerous awards, including two student Emmys (Best Documentary and the Bricker Humanitarian Award), and screened at film festivals around the world. The film is currently being used in community campaigns to keep the oil and gas industry from causing further disastrous health and environmental impacts. Deia’s background is in environmental education and visual arts, as well as expeditioning, having been awarded, along with Gregg Treinish, a 2009 National Geographic Adventurer of the Year award for a two-year, 7800-mile through-hike of the Andes Mountains. She subsequently lectured around the U.S. on the lessons in sustainable living she learned over the course of her time in the Andes. She is currently producing Josh Fox’s (of GASLAND) feature documentary about climate change and community value systems, which will premier early in 2016 and be broadcast on HBO.
