What originated in the Scandinavian countries as a form of winter transportation, the Western states have transformed this into an action packed competition where a horse and rider pull a skier at a fast pace through a course that has gates, jumps, and rings.

All competitors must register Friday, January 22nd or pre-register online. If you register online, you must pay in advance or pay Friday night. Liability waiver must be completed for both skiers and riders who registered online before the competitor meeting on Saturday, January 23rd. Written parental consent is required for participants under 18 years of age. A parent or legal guardian must be present at registration.

If you are a skier or rider and looking to find a teammate, let us know! Email us at gallatinvalleyskijoring@gmail.com with your information and what division you would like to compete in and we will do our best to set you up with a teammate. Otherwise, stop by the Friday night registration party — there are always riders and skiers looking to pick up an extra pull for the weekend.

Admission is free for spectators. We encourage the whole family to come out and enjoy the exhilarating sport of skijoring. There will be food, drinks, and alcoholic beverages for sale at the event. Please bring your skis if you are interested in trying your hand at skijoring at the end of the day on Saturday during the Exhibition Division.

Dogs MUST be leashed at all times while on the event premises. We expect both spectators and competitors to be realistic about how their dogs will handle a fast pace event with horses. If you have questions regarding how your dog will react, be a responsible owner and please leave them at home for the day.
