“Funksgiving” 70s-Themed Costume Dance Party at
Faultline North on Saturday, November 21
On Saturday, November 21 at 7:30 p.m., a 70s themed costume dance party called “Funksgiving” will take place at Faultline North in Bozeman.
The event will feature 1970s costumes, dancing, and music by The Sweet Groovalicious Funk Machine, a band that plays “retro funk and soul with some ‘funkified’ versions of modern hits thrown in—all designed to get everyone dancing.”
While the event is primarily a costume dance party, there is also an awareness component.
“We’ve actually put on a couple other ‘Funksgiving’ parties that were private events, but they were so much fun we thought why not make it a public thing this year—and let’s bring in a non-profit who could benefit from more people knowing about the good work they’re doing,” describes David Thompson, one of the event organizers.
This year’s Funksgiving partner is Montanans for Healthy Rivers.
Montanans for Healthy Rivers (MHR) is a coalition of non-profit groups that works to keep Montana’s rivers clean and clear for people to use and enjoy today and into the future. Scott Bosse, the Northern Rockies Director for American Rivers and a MHR steering committee member, notes “This is a great way for us to let more people know how they can help us protect Montana’s amazing river resources in a totally fun setting.” Door prizes to be given out during the party have been donated by Simms, Costa, and Bozeman Reel, among others, and proceeds for the entire event will go to MHR.
Thompson points out “We may turn this into an annual event, so we can dance and have a great time while we also highlight one of the many non-profit groups we’re ‘funkful’ for each year.”
A cash bar by Plonk and free snacks from Nova and Feed Café will be available. Tickets are available for $12 online at Ticket River.
